Terroir Al Limit

Spain

Terroir al Limit definitely is nowadays one of the most well-known winemaking projects of Priorat. In 2001, Eben Sadie (a promising and highly regarded young enologist from South Africa) and Dominik Huber (wine enthusiast with business administration background) started their little project in the old cellar of “Torroja del Priorat” abandoned cooperative. In 2007 Dominik began working full time at Terroir al Limit, while Eben left Terroir al Limit in 2012 to devout his energies to his extraordinary work in South Africa. Since its inception, the goal at Terroir al Limit is to foster wines of infusion rather than extraction, thereby emphasizing elegance rather than the typical heaviness of the Priorat.

Dominik has fully embraced a biodynamic approach to viticulture, coupled with a gentle, non-intrusive winemaking style that favors whole-bunch fermentation, and concrete or amphora aging as an alternative to oak.

Terroir al Limit flagship range is deeply inspired by the very old winemaking traditions of Burgundy. Carefully selected plots of Garnacha and Carignan are individually expressed through a collection of site-specific wines with a timeless elegance that has become the hallmark of their style.

The wines of  Historic range are meant to be enjoyed, rather than contemplated. Rather than focusing on individual parcels, Dominik sources grapes from many different vineyards throughout the region authentically expressing the diversity of the Priorat landscape. Nostalgic and honest in spirit, these wines reflect the style of winemaking that was popular back in the 1970s in Priorat.

Terroir Sence Fronteres range places the spotlight in a region that Dominik believes to hold enormous potential, the DO Montsant. High up on the Montsant Mountain and right across the border from the prized Les Manyes vineyard in Priorat, 60-year old Garnacha vines produce extremely concentrated, flavor-rich fruit. Early harvests, whole cluster fermentations, gentle extractions, and a complete lack of oak during the aging process results in wines of great finesse in a distinctly Mediterranean style.
